  1. Wow. You have really done an amazing job here Amber- such a creative solution to a long tail! LOVE the zipper – how’d you attach to the cardboard?! Brilliant!

  2. This is so cute! I think that this is the best way to recycle such materials! I have a lot of boxes from our recently moving experience and I want to recycle them somehow. I will make an interesting costume for my three-year-old daughter. Thank you a lot for the incredible idea!

  3. Please please please describe more details on how you did this!!! Are the stripes folded or individually sewn? Am going to attempt this for my son this Halloween and would be grateful for pointers! Thank you!!

    • Hi, Amber!
My husband and I are going to a Halloween party. He raises Monarchs, so we thought your caterpillar costume would be just perfect (I’m going as a Monarch!). You are incredibly creative to have come up with this idea. Do you have a pattern for this? We’d love to make it but don’t even know where to start. Your instructions would be most appreciate!

      • Hi Julie,

That’s really fantastic that your husband raises Monarchs! I wish that I could provide instructions for this costume but unfortunately I don’t provide any tutorials for any of the costumes that my family or I have worn. These are quite laborious costumes that take several weeks to construct so it’s just not feasible to post them on the blog. Thanks for you message, Amber

        • Hi Amber,do you have more pictures of the caterpillar costumes that u could share?my 3-year old daughter loves caterpillar and we have already raised at least 30 of them to monarch butterflies already.. This will be a good costume for halloween. No need tutorial.. Just more pictures?..pls….?

  4. I’ve raised Monarchs with my students for many years. Would love to make this costume with them, and the milkweed one, too.
