The morning started with rain..... I was worried everyone would feel cooped up in the warehouse, but builders were excited for the opportunity to add some extra elements to their carts, create a mini golf course and a homemade board game!
Custom putters!
Mud puddles!
When the weather cleared it was time to load up the carts.
Last minute wheel adjustments.
We met the truck at Tourist Park and it was time to unload the carts.
Heading over to the start of the bike path loop.
Right out of the gates we lost a wheel on the "Lil' Gem."
Waiting while a team did repairs on the "Lil' Gem."
Back in business again.
Towards the end of the trail, we lost a cart to irreparable damages, and other teams got tired and started improvising ways to pull the carts.
In the home stretch!
We made it! After a drink at the water fountain, we loaded up the carts and headed back to camp anticipating our last trip to the rope swing.
Leeches that we had been observing on the nature shelf. Hmm. What's our plan now?
Although there was no sun, it was great to swim and relax after the morning's adventure.
Back at the warehouse we welcomed parents and had ice cream!
Siblings loved getting rides on some of the carts.
...and even took turns pulling the cart.
Most of the carts were disassembled, so materials could be reused in the future.
...and that was the end of an amazing week! Builders, I will miss building with you and our adventures finding fantastic creatures on the river. Have a great summer and keep making!
